Western NC activities are numerous and diverse
including the Biltmore estate, Cherokee casino and village, Grandfather
Mountain, and Roan Mountain rhododendron festival, Mt Mitchell (highest
point east of the Mississippi), snow skiing, rafting, horseback riding,
waterfalls and other scenic attractions. There are also several local golf
courses and theatres. Burnsville is home to the Parkway Playhouse which
offers an entire season of performances during the summer.
