This quilt is a sequel to the Blue Ridge Parkway spring and summer quilts. It contains 153 pictures, all of which were shot on the Parkway in the fall of 2001. The apple pictures were shot at the Orchard at Altapass, a popular Parkway destination. There are also pictures of Linville Falls in the quilt. The center pictures were shot as dusk was approaching and the mountains became a distinctive lavender color seen only at this time of year. The juxtaposition of the leaves in the log cabin blocks creates faces and a beetle!  The three blocks that make up the quilt are Delectable Mountains (corner blocks), Evening Star (center block) and Log Cabin (remaining blocks).
