The star block used in the pink fog quilt is called Memory. I shot
the photograph early one winter morning near dawn. The cloud that was still
on our mountain at that hour was pink from the rising sun, coloring the
entire scene. The apple tree appearing in the quilt is an old variety called
Gloria Mundi, (called "Glory Monday" by locals). There is another apple
tree growing beside it whose variety is unknown to us so we call it the
"Glory Tuesday" tree.
